Not all people have the privilege of a fast and efficient kitchen appliance. But, with a microwave at home, you can serve a variety of dishes that will surely satisfy your family’s palates. Additionally, it heats leftover food and cooks easy-to-make recipes  which are both convenient solutions whenever you have a busy schedule.

However, using your microwave relentlessly might damage its internal parts at some point. It has an average lifespan of 5 to 7 years depending on how careful and often you operate it. Also, there may be a time when you need to upgrade your unit to a better one that has more features.

Whatever your reason is, its disposal should avoid the landfills as much as possible. It still has recyclable components fit for reprocessing. Microwave Recycling is one of the keys to Australia’s e-waste problem. Unlike the regular pickup schedules of residual and recycling bins, the local council collects e-waste like your microwave through an appointment basis only. Also, they have strict guidelines regarding this electronic rubbish. You can only take it out on the kerbside during the arranged date. And illegal dumping will result in fines without warning.

Your regular garbage collector may have e-waste drop-off locations that are not publicized. Contact your trash pickup service for more information. Similarly, local recyclers may also have e-waste drop-off locations where you can dispose of your microwave safely.
